After President Barack Obama fulfilled his campaign promise in March and signed an executive order undoing Bush's idiotic 2001 ban on stem celol research, a court ruling on 23 August 2010 shut down research again for 17 days.
Fortunately Senator Arlen Specter introduced a proposal to override the renewed ban by U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth.
The Court of Appeals is still due to make a final decision though so the silly drama is far from over. Once again important research is being put on hold by ignorant laymen when it should be in the hands of qualified scientists.
